iCloud Sync & Backup

Two things happen under iCloud Sync, and they're independent. Always Backed Up applies on every plan: your practice stats and sticker collection back up to iCloud automatically, with nothing to turn on. Sync to iCloud is a Dashi Dance Pro feature — turn on Sync Data to keep your projects and practices in step across your iPhone and iPad.

Sync to iCloud (Pro)

The Media Library Size readout shows how much of your library counts toward iCloud storage; videos download to a device only when you open them, so a new device doesn't pull your whole library up front. A separate Sync Settings toggle keeps your theme and recording preferences the same everywhere. Nothing is stored on Dashi Dance's own servers — it all rides on your iCloud account, and you need Pro plus an iCloud account signed in to turn syncing on.

Removing your data from iCloud

Two housekeeping buttons live near the bottom of this section. Free Up iCloud Storage needs Sync Data turned on; it clears any files sitting in iCloud that no project is actually using anymore — that shouldn't normally happen, so see why it exists if you're curious. It becomes available once this device has been syncing for about a day, so there's been time for a normal picture of what's really in use. Delete All iCloud Data only needs the device to be signed into iCloud — it works even with Sync Data off. It removes your projects, practices, and their media from iCloud — this device keeps everything, since only the iCloud copies are touched. Any other device you use stays in sync until you next open Dashi Dance there; at that point it stops syncing, shows a note explaining why, and keeps whatever it already had. Practice stats and stickers keep backing up either way — that's the Always Backed Up feature above, and neither button affects it. Deletion finishes the next time Dashi Dance runs with an internet connection.

Common questions

Why can't I turn on iCloud sync?

It needs Dashi Dance Pro, an iCloud account signed in on the device, and the Sync Data toggle switched on in this screen.

Why is there a "Free Up iCloud Storage" button?

Deleting a project or practice inside Dashi Dance removes its files from iCloud on every device, so leftover files shouldn't happen. In rare cases they can anyway — for example an upload that gets interrupted partway through, or a device that kept adding new dances right after another device ran Delete All iCloud Data, before it had a chance to reopen Dashi Dance and catch up. As of our testing, the iCloud storage screen in iOS Settings can't remove files like these on its own. We don't expect you to ever see leftovers, but the button is there as an easy way to clean them up if they turn up.
