Comparison
Review your take side-by-side with the reference performance.
Comparison plays the reference and one of your practices side by side, so you can see exactly where your take matches — or drifts from — the source. Open it by swiping a practice row and tapping Compare, from the Player's ⋯ menu, or right after saving a new recording.
Reading the screen
- ① the reference (Source) pane — the choreography you're learning
- ② your practice pane
One set of controls drives both panes at once: play/pause, frame-step, scrubbing, A/B loop, speed, and mirror work like the Player.
The ⋯ menu
- Switch layout — toggle side-by-side and stacked panes
- Flip — swap which pane sits on top or on the left
- Use practice audio — choose which audio you hear: the source, or your practice's own microphone
- Alignment — line the panes up; it has its own page
- Export — opens the export dialog, covered below
Pitch and EQ, both Pro, are here too — they shape the reference audio only, since your practice's mic already sounds the way you recorded it. The windows and controls are the same as the Player's. Show full clips, also Pro, gets its own section below.
Show full clips (Pro)
Extends playback and export to cover the full span of both clips — their union — instead of stopping where they overlap. Wherever one clip has no content, that pane shows black until it catches up. Separate Start and End toggles extend the beginning and the end independently, and the setting is ignored while an A/B loop is set. Show full clips is a Dashi Dance Pro feature.
Exporting a comparison
Choose a resolution (1080p or 4K) and frame rate (30 or 60 fps), then pick Export Comparison for the side-by-side video, or Export Practice for just your practice take. The side-by-side lands in your Photos "Dashi Dance Comparison" album and a practice-only export in "Dashi Dance Practice" — see Where exports are saved. You can cancel mid-render.
Common questions
Can I change which side is which?
Yes — open ⋯ and use Switch layout or Flip to rearrange the panes, whichever is easiest to watch.
The clips drift apart, or start at different moments
Open Alignment. Auto-align (Pro) usually fixes it in one tap; otherwise nudge the offset by hand.
Why does one pane go black?
You're past where the two clips overlap. Turn on Show full clips (Pro) to keep the longer one playing instead.
Comparison feels too slow or too fast
A practice recorded at reduced speed sets the base rate for both panes; the speed control multiplies on top of that.
