Projects & Importing
Create projects and import reference videos into Dashi Dance.
A Project is one routine you're learning. It holds exactly one Source — the reference video or audio you imported — plus every Practice you record or import against it. Renaming a project renames its source too.
Creating a project
Tap + at the top right of the projects list and import a reference from Files or your Photos library. Dashi Dance copies it in and asks for a name — Photos imports get a generic default, so rename it any time from the project's own menu. Video and audio both work: audio sources play with a waveform in the Player. If a video's codec isn't supported, the import error names it — H.264 video always works.
The projects list
- ① the + button — import a new reference from Files or Photos
- ② each card shows a thumbnail (or waveform, for an audio source) and its duration
- ③ switches view mode between cards, compact, and list
- ④ sorts by name, created date, or last opened — or Manual, which lets you drag cards into your own order
Each card's ⋯ menu shows the project's total size on disk — its source plus all its practices — alongside Rename and Delete for the whole project.
Inside a project
- ① the Source row — tap it to open the Player
- ② the Practices list, newest first, each with a thumbnail, quality, and file size
- ③ the add menu — record a new practice or import one from Files or Photos
- ④ the batch-delete button — the trash icon in the Practices section header
Tap ④ the trash icon in the Practices header to enter selection mode — pick several practices, then delete them together. Rename or delete the whole project from its own ⋯ menu (above) — deleting a project deletes its practices too.
Swipe a practice row to reveal its actions:

- ② Compare — open Comparison against the source
- ③ Export — save the practice as a video to your Photos "Dashi Dance Practice" album (see Where exports are saved)
- ④ Delete
Common questions
Can a project hold two reference videos?
No — one Source per project. Import the second video into a new project instead.
What formats can I import?
Anything iOS itself can play. If a video's codec isn't supported, the import error names it.
How do I reorder my projects?
Tap sort (④ above) and choose Manual, then drag cards into the order you want.
Does deleting a practice affect copies I've exported to Photos?
No — an exported copy in your Photos library stays put even after you delete the practice inside Dashi Dance.
